Nigeria’s Oil To Finish in 41 Years

Nigeria’s oil reserve will be depleted in 41 years, according to a World Bank Group’s twice-yearly analysis of the issues shaping Africa’s economic prospects called Africa’s pulse.
The report which was presented by the World Bank’s chief economist for Africa, Shantayanan Devarajan, on Thursday said Nigeria’s and Angola’s oil reserves will be depleted in 41 and 21 years respectively.

“Nigeria, the largest regional producer, can keep supplying at 2011 levels for another 41 years, while Angola, the second largest producer in the region, has about 21 years remaining at current production levels before its known reserves are depleted.

“Given the size of these reserves, it is likely that the dependence on oil resources in these countries are likely to continue in the near to medium term. Production in newly oil-rich countries such as Ghana and Uganda could also last for several years.”

According to the World bank’s chief economist, Mineral wealth in African countries including Nigeria don’t translate to prosperity because the money accruing from it doesn’t pass through the citizens, and the citizens don’t see the wealth as theirs.

A Mother Narrates To Court How their Pastor Slept With Her 14 Year Old Daughter In The Name Of Deliverance.

One Mrs Ngozi Offor yesterday told an Abuja Chief Magistrate Court how Senior Pastor Basil Princewill of Mountain Movers Fire Ministry allegedly defiled her 14-year-old daughter (names withheld) and made her undergo an abortion after she became pregnant.

The pastor, Apostle Basil Princewill and Pauline Okoh were charged with criminal conspiracy, impersonation, intimidation, force and assault, which are offences contrary to Sections 97, 179, 397 (B) and 268 of the Penal Code.
The woman, who was led in evidence by Prosecutor Bulus Samuel, said her daughter told her that the pastor invited her for a deliverance exercise and requested for oil as well as handkerchief. She alleged that on the appointed day, the pastor asked her daughter to undress and when she tried to protest, he slapped her.

“He is feared so much in the church and known as papa,” the mother said. She alleged further that the pastor poured oil on her daughter and told her that the next part of the exercise is supposed to be performed by her husband but since she does not have one, he will represent him.
“He undressed himself and put a handkerchief on my daughter’s head, which made her dumb before having carnal knowledge of her,” the mother alleged.

She said when the pastor discovered that her daughter had missed her period; he made her undergo an abortion. The woman also told the court that people in the church thaught the pastor was a lawyer because he usually writes in his fliers, almanac and books that he read law and philosophy. A copy of the flier and almanac were tendered as exhibits in the court.
When the prosecutor then sought to know whether the woman had the original copy of the medical report in court, she said photocopies were submitted to the police while the original was at home. The prosecutor then sought for adjournment in the case so that the victim’s mother can tender the required documents, which were not in her possession in court.
The defense counsel objected to the request and urged the court to compel the prosecutor to tell the court the nature of the document. He said the prosecutor ought to have been prepared for his case, adding that the document from the evidence is a scan test certificate that should be presented by a medical doctor.

Scientist recommends sweet potato flour as alternative to wheat

Rwandan Agricultural Scientist, Mr Kirimi Sindi, has advised African countries to use sweet potato flour for confectioneries as an alternative to wheat.

Sindi, in a paper presented at the 16th Triennial Symposium of International Society for Tropical and Root Crops, in Abeokuta, Ogun State, noted that sweet potato is rich in Vitamin A. His paper was entitled What is the consumers’ perception of bakery products made with Vitamin A rich sweet potato and wheat?

The scientist said that the consumption of sweet potato could eliminate Vitamin A deficiency common in many parts of the continent. “Sweet potato is better than wheat because it is cheaper while imported wheat is costly,” Sindi said. He explained that Africa had many local alternatives to wheat flour that could reduce the cost of producing confectioneries.

According to him, flour made from potato and cassava can be used to bake bread, doughnut, biscuits and cakes, reducing production cost by 15 per cent.

Sindi said that a study, conducted by himself and four other researchers in Rwanda showed that confectioneries, made a combination of sweet potato flour and wheat, tasted better.

Hon. Patrick Obahiagbon Speaks On Nigeria’s Independence Celebrations

Our Eloquente Honourable has this to say to us as we celebrate our Independence.

“As we celebrate our flag and shambolic autarky at 52, we must realize that Nigeria is still more of a geographic contrivance as has been rightly posited by Chief Obafemi Awolowo. Not with our centrifugal excrescences preponderating over our centripetal proclivities. It’s a matter for mental pabulum that we are daily drifting into our ethnic cocoons. We still remain one country with disparate ethnic agendas and I can say it for the umpteenth time again that we must sit down in a sovereign national colloquy to discuss the basis for our nationhood. Anything short of this is just vacuous scahiamachy"

Hehe .............. Things no longer at ease.

3 Out of 10 Nigerian Men Are Not Fathers of Their Kids →DNA Expert

Married men really need to closely watch our events play out in their homes, especially with regards to the activities of their wives (leading to pregnancy), if this latest revelation by a DNA expert in Nigeria is anything to go by.

How paternity testing is becoming an issue in Nigeria...
We have seen that there is serious need for it because in many homes things are happening that are scary both to the lives of children and their parents. And for the general statistics that is now available, it is found that three out of every ten men are not the fathers of their babies.
Similarly, three out of every ten children are not fathered by men they have seen as their biological fathers. What we have found out is that, anytime we take ten men, at least three of them eventually found that they are not the fathers of the children they call their own. And these men would have taken care of the children for all their lives.

Now, the global statistics is 100,000 out of every 300,000 men.
But what we have found that is that the situation is higher in Nigeria than other places. For example in our laboratory here, 50 per cent of the cases comes out negative. And we also realised that majority of the first-borns are affected. You only need to be here to see big men cry like little kids and watch children weep in agony. It has been that bad. And I dare say it is becoming something every home must do and you may be quite surprised at the level of dastard revelation.
About thirty per cent of fathers are unknowingly bringing up children who are not biologically theirs. And it is suspected that this percentage may be on the increase due to sexual recklessness. According to recent trends in sexual health, especially in Nigeria, it was suggested that unprotected sex and multiple partners are comparatively common occurrences with a large proportion of conceptions still unplanned. So, more than half, that is, 50 per cent of all paternity tests carried out by our lab comes out negative and the most affected are first-borns, except in a few cases.
